FFTrader wins the 2010 Crystal Ball Challenge
02/03/2011 - There is nothing more difficult in the world of fantasy football
than nailing weekly start/sit predictions. There is also nothing more critical
to the success of your fantasy football squad. The accuracy of weekly rankings
is the most relevant measuring stick of a fantasy football expert’s worth, and
for the second consecutive season the Fantasy Football Crystal Ball Accuracy
Challenge measured that worth by ranking the rankers.
Fantasy Football Crystal Ball and its sister site, Fantasy Football Spin,
measured and reported the weekly accuracy results in the Fantasy Joe section of
the USA Today this past season. Nineteen of the top fantasy football sites had
the courage to participate in the 2010 contest. Every fantasy footballer got the benefit of the Fantasy
Football Crystal Ball Accuracy Challenge, taking the experts to task and
chronicling their hits and misses. Fantasy Football Crystal Ball subscribers
enjoyed the extra benefit of having their lineups automatically retrieved from
their league management system and receiving customized start/sit advice based
on specific data from the best fantasy football sites in the world.
The winners at each position and overall champion were decided by the points
they accumulated over the length of the entire season. The fact that only two experts,
FantasyFootballTrader and FOX Sports, managed to finish in the top five in both
the first and second half of the season attests to how difficult it is to
perform well week in and week out.
KFFL ruled the first half of the 2010 season while FantasyFootballTrader edged out ProFootballFocus to win the second half.
FOX Sports took home the category wins in two of the six positions tracked,
Quarterback and Tight End. FantasyFootballTrader took home the titles in an
unprecedented three categories, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Team
Defense/Special Teams. FantasyFootballJungle was the only site to crash the FOX
Sports / FantasyFootballTrader party by owning the Placekicker category.
Ultimately, consistency prevailed as FOX Sports and FantasyFootballTrader
slugged it out for overall supremacy in the 2010 Fantasy Football Crystal Ball
Accuracy Challenge. As you may have guessed from the positional category
results, FantasyFootballTrader is the new king of the fantasy football experts,
edging out FOX Sports for the 2010 crown. CBS Sports, KFFL, and Razzball rounded
out the top five.
Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to the sites that were brave
enough to participate in a very public challenge that pitted the best sites
against each other.
